With a 32-year history, the firm of Mario Biselli and Artur Katchborian has designed projects across all scales and themes: residences, public and private buildings, commercial and service projects, schools, sports centers, and urban planning initiatives. Their architecture seeks to understand and respond to Brazil's economic and cultural transformations. On June 18, they will launch a book marking this milestone at the Museu da Casa Brasileira. Published by Acácia Cultural, Biselli Katchborian Arquitetos provides a holistic approach to the work developed over more than three decades.
The book opens with a text by architect, critic, and editor Francesco Perrotta-Bosch, followed by a profile written by journalist Michele Oliveira, which reflects on, among other topics, the key moment when the firm shifted its scale of operation following victories in the competitions for the Teatro de Natal and the Florianópolis Airport. Subsequently, an article by architect and professor Elisabete França explores the theme "The presence of architecture in public housing programs," alongside a lecture-text by Mario Biselli titled "History of Architecture as History of Technique." This piece offers a unique reading of the transformation of construction methods in architectural projects over eight centuries, while also serving as a generous presentation of the references that populate the imagination of the firm's two principals.
