“Housing and Equity” will analyze the physical, psychological, and environmental characteristics of contemporary housing and cities that perpetuate gender roles. These factors limit women's autonomy and development while reinforcing the economic and social logic that maintains the “sacred family” as the sole model for design.
On June 3, Rosaura Martínez noted: “The vulnerability and lack of protection for women is a failure of policies that have excluded them from space. Women own only 35% of homes and earn 25% less than men, even though their unpaid labor accounts for 23.5% of Mexico's GDP.”
This dialogue seeks to define the most effective and feasible strategies for designing equitable, inclusive, and gender-neutral spaces within the fields of architecture and urbanism.
