SALVADOR PREPARES TO HOST THE CASAS CONCEITO EXHIBITION ON SEPTEMBER 3 AT 4 PM
A Celebration of Sustainability, Culture, and Design on Brazil's First Street
Andrea Velame, founder of the Mostra Casas Conceito and president of the Rua Chile Association, presents a new edition that promises to be a cultural landmark on the Brazilian scene. Salvador, recently recognized as the first Brazilian capital to obtain certification as a smart and sustainable city, opens its doors to the highly anticipated 2024 Mostra Casas Conceito, running from September 3 to November 3. Held at the historic Palacete do Tira Chapéu—one of the city's most sumptuous eclectic palaces, built in 1917 by Italian architect Rossi Baptista—the exhibition brings together architecture, design, art, and sustainability in an innovative way.
The pre-opening event for invited guests on September 2 will feature an exclusive performance by the renowned conductor João Carlos Martins, an iconic figure in both Brazilian and international classical music. Known for his inspiring journey and resilience, João Carlos Martins has enjoyed a brilliant career as a pianist and conductor, overcoming numerous physical challenges over the years. His performance at the Mostra Casas Conceito will mark a special moment in his final tour, which will culminate at Carnegie Hall in New York in May 2025. Another participant celebrating the opening of the Palacete will be artist Carlinhos Brown. A masquerade night filled with reasons to celebrate promises the unveiling of an iconic cultural space for the city. The conductor and Brown will perform in the space designed by interior designer Nathália Velame, who presents the "Piano-Bar" this year. Located in the Palacete’s Hall of Founders, with its 9.5-meter ceilings, this space was designed to be a sophisticated and welcoming environment where brown—considered the new black—predominates, complemented by a blue sofa.
