To launch the “20th Meeting of Indigenous Writers and Artists,” two panel discussions will be held on November 6, 2024: “Indigenous Literature Today” at 9:00 a.m., featuring Indigenous writer Daniel Munduruku, and “Indigenous Literature as a Tool for Decolonization and Transformation in Education” at 11:00 a.m., with Indigenous poet Márcia Kambeba. These free lectures will take place at the Macunaíma Auditorium in the Institute of Letters at the Fluminense Federal University (UFF). Additionally, an exhibition featuring publications by Indigenous authors will be on display.
These activities are part of the educational phase of the 20th “Meeting of Indigenous Writers and Artists,” conceived by Daniel Munduruku and coordinated by professor Claudete Daflon, which centers on Indigenous agency within the cultural sphere. Under the theme “Is the Future Ancestral?”, the meeting aims to discuss the trajectory of literature in shaping the consciousness of the Brazilian people through panel discussions featuring Indigenous authors and experts in the field. “We want to create a great celebration of hope,” the organizers state. The remaining stages will take place on December 10, 11, and 12 at the UFF and the National Library, free of charge and open to the public.
