This edition of the Bauhaus Wednesday cycle at the Leopoldo Rother Architecture Museum (MALR) presents the lecture "Modular Typography," led by Sebastián Castellanos and Jason Guzmán of BastardaType.
Modular Typography
The main objective is to understand the logic of the "New Typography"—a conceptual and stylistic stance shaped by the #Bauhaus and other thinkers of the era—to grasp the mechanics of #typographic modular logic, and to establish a connection between the Bauhaus approach in Colombia, specifically through the #typographic work of David Consuegra.
BastardaType
Founded in Bogotá in late 2016, the studio focuses on typographic production, primarily for brand visual identity. Their projects have been recognized by LAD Fest 2017, the Ibero-American Design Biennial (BID2018), and the 8th Tipos Latinos Typography Biennial (2018). Their fonts have been exhibited in academic spaces such as the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK), among others. As part of their practice, they open their doors to other typographers and students to help consolidate a new perspective on typeface design.
