E-Workshop: Architecture in the City

E-Workshop: Architecture in the City
Pampulha, Belo Horizonte, Brazil

Coordinator: Alberto Collet
Collaborators: Mirian Maia and Felipe Sanquetta

Theme:
The studio, led by Italian architect Alberto Collet, will develop the program's content through a medium-scale architectural and urban intervention in the Pampulha urban complex, designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2016. The approach proposes an investigation into the urban redevelopment process, emphasizing the integration between buildings and the city, particularly regarding the alternative connection possibilities offered by the Pampulha Lagoon, which can contribute to improving the use of the heritage sites within its urban complex. The project structure was conceived based on a defined methodology, where each team member contributes their own perspective. Starting with initial questions and challenges, we develop a reading of the territory through both subjective and objective lenses to arrive at project proposals. The workshop will feature alumni who will explain the conception of this method. The workshop includes a series of guests from Brazil and abroad who will participate in a lecture series, contributing to the development of the project and the multidisciplinary training of design, architecture, and engineering professionals.
