The realization and life of cities are reflections of the power and decision-making structures of the societies that sustain them. Given this, in a patriarchal society, can we expect women to have effective space, voice, and agency in the decisions that shape their daily lives?
Using this question as a foundation, we propose applying a participatory methodology with a feminist focus to understand, through a plurality of perspectives, strategies for: 1. The invisibilization of oppressive urban power structures; 2. The physical consolidation of inequalities; 3. Questioning and identifying urban oppressions; 4. Responses and reactions to constraints; and 5. Evaluation of ongoing processes. All these issues are addressed in situ. Cities, neighborhoods, and streets are the very fields of work, reflection, and proposition—as well as battlegrounds.
