"About Painting" opens on May 15
Galeria Patrícia Costa presents a solo exhibition by Alberto Saraiva, featuring paintings in dialogue with the pictorial and metaphysical inquiry
Using acrylic and oil on canvas, Alberto Saraiva constructs a unique narrative through colorful nuances capable of revealing subtleties between planes and figures to the attentive eye. "About Painting," the artist's solo exhibition running from May to June at Galeria Patrícia Costa, will feature approximately 20 of Saraiva's paintings. Curator Daniele Machado has selected works spanning from 2009 to recent 2025 productions—some created specifically for this exhibition, such as the diptych "Autumn Drizzle." According to Machado, Saraiva’s painting is constructed in parts, with coexisting centers of gravity that alternately compete and disorient, challenging the classical perspective that has so heavily shaped the Western gaze. The collection reflects the painter’s investigation into metaphysics in dialogue with pictorial tradition.
