Jacqueline Belotti opens solo exhibition featuring ceramics and porcelain
at Galeria Mercedes Viegas, curated by Paula Terra-Neale
Integrating disparate elements and constructing pieces that contain events, information, and objects from multifaceted universes, artist and ceramicist Jacqueline Belotti manually shapes her works, always with an experimental character. Her recent creations will be featured in the exhibition “AND OF ALL THINGS, ONE,” which opens on Saturday, July 6, at Galeria Mercedes Viegas in Horto. Curator Paula Terra-Neale has selected 15 ceramics and porcelain pieces from the artist's recent production. In the artist's hands, clay becomes a medium for conveying stories, emotions, and unique visions, echoing the power of the creation she celebrates. From raw clay to the final object, the magic of the artistic process breathes new life and meaning into the material, which may take the form of foliage, roses, orchids, and other flowers—whether invented or real—as well as hands, heads, birds, wings, fish, shells, and marine vegetation, all mixed with various ceramic shards.
