Synopsis
The workshop Território Material: criar a partir do que já existe (Material Territory: Creating from What Already Exists) seeks to generate a new perception of waste—a concept understood as both a contemporary crisis and a possibility—through engagement with obsolescence in São Paulo. Through urban investigation practices supported by the experiences of Arquivo and the collective Mouraria 53, participants will identify the nodes (physical, economic, and cultural) of the culture of obsolescence in city building, as well as their counterparts: existing or desirable actors, policies, and processes that present themselves as solutions for a less disposable city.
