The Andes Workshop is a collaborative workshop for students and faculty from around the world. Founded in 2017, it will once again be led by Chilean architects Cazú Zegers + Grupo Talca, Rodrigo Sheward, and Martin del Solar.
Applications for the 2018 Andes Workshop are now open, marking its second edition in the Araucanía region. The program aims to explore and highlight the North Andean Araucanía territory by analyzing the fragility of the landscape, understanding its origins, and developing a low-tech architectural monument. The goal is to use minimal resources to achieve maximum spatial expression, thereby adding value to the territory. This will be carried out through various interdisciplinary workshops involving diverse faculty, national and international students, and the local communities that inhabit the area.
Over approximately one and a half months, participants will have the opportunity to learn and collaborate with professionals from the fields of performing arts, literature, architecture, geography, biology, audiovisual recording, and carpentry. These workshops will take place in Santiago for the first few days, followed by fieldwork alongside the Pehuenche community of Quinquén, located near Lake Galletué.
