Festival Habitante is a film, city, and architecture festival that will showcase international and national audiovisual works in the Ecuadorian cities of Quito and Guayaquil. The program is complemented by parallel activities open to the public, aimed at fostering discussion around the act of inhabiting.
HABITANTE is a project that seeks to communicate, reflect on, and generate critique regarding the various ways of inhabiting space, territory, the city, and architecture. We believe that this discussion cannot be siloed within specific disciplines; rather, it must find a space where we can all be included and, at the same time, take responsibility. This space, in itself, is an act of inhabiting.
We believe that the intersection of film and the act of inhabiting opens a reflection on the power of the arts to influence the world we live in. For this reason, we emphasize the importance of Festival Habitante as an independent initiative that strengthens the commitment of academia, as well as public and private institutions, to art and culture through civil society, without capitalizing on this discussion for private or commercial interests.
