Program

11/19 (Monday)
09:00 AM to 10:00 AM – Building 02 Auditorium
Iron floor, gold of Minas, horizons of the hinterland: the symbolic and poetic dimensions of architecture in its place - Luis Antônio Jorge
The presentation will address the relationship between symbols and poetic creation in architecture that is sensitive to the demands of a site. It will define the notion of "place," while questioning the contribution of Minas Gerais to Brazilian culture. To this end, the author will draw from literature (Pedro Nava, Murilo Mendes, Carlos Drummond de Andrade, Guimarães Rosa, and Paulo Mendes Campos), as well as the cities and landscapes of Minas Gerais, to identify the attributes that distinguish the cultural richness supporting the work of architect Gustavo Penna.
