THEME
Time is not the same for everyone. Although the clock never stops, we often revisit our past to reaffirm or modify who we will become. We are retroactive. The leap year 2020 is already known in the collective imagination as "the year that never was." It was a year characterized by the asymmetry of regional resources in the face of a shared global challenge that tested the economy-ecology relationship with devastating effects. It was a year that recorded, minute by minute, the first pandemic in the internet age, which continues to this day.
Although only two years have passed, countless urban and architectural adaptations were implemented to cope with the situation; however, very few successfully reconciled the great contemporary dilemma posed by the economy vs. ecology relationship in the face of global challenges. How could we better mitigate the effects of a new threat from our domestic scale? Is commemorating someone we only saw again in ashes part of a natural grieving process? Can architecture materialize the time we don't feel actually occurred? Is forgetting enough to normalize?...
