LA ESCUELA___, a platform focused on public space design, has launched a competition centered on the planning and creation of a facility that connects the community with a chosen territory in Latin America, following its core approach of linking art and education.
This digital, anonymous competition, open to residents of Latin America and the Caribbean as well as foreign residents, is rooted in an understanding of diverse social realities. Participants are required to engage with the specific geographic context, as well as the social, political, and ecological conditions of chosen locations. The project should be designed to endure over time, operating at a modest scale while delivering a significant impact on the local community.
The competition stems from the constant evolution of society in the face of various social, cultural, and geographic shifts. Despite these changes, educational spaces remain largely unchanged from those of centuries past. The competition encourages moving beyond the classroom, integrating public space into education and viewing collective space and learning as intertwined themes.
