Following the success of our inaugural challenge last year, SkyCity is pleased to invite architects, designers, artists, engineers, scientists, restaurateurs, digital nomads, craftspeople, and anyone with big ideas from around the world to participate in the SkyCity Challenge 2019: The Future of Housing. Current construction methods are impacting the environment by relying on limited resources and outdated techniques. We believe that with current technology, we can create far more sophisticated homes that will revolutionize the future.
We invite you to design a home that can be disassembled after its period of use and repurposed as components of a modular system. The house should be constructed from prefabricated panels that can be easily dismantled. We encourage you to develop this proposal using BCORE (a stainless steel material we have developed). The design must be easily transportable, buildable anywhere on the planet, and simple enough for a small construction team to assemble. Proposals may be situated in any environment or location.
