Countless women around the world have contributed to the development of the built environment and the habitat, as well as to the advancement of architecture as a profession; however, much of this work remains unpublished and unknown. This invitation to join the 1x1 Collection of the International Archive of Women in Architecture (IAWA) seeks to make the contributions of all women architects visible so that the record of their work does not disappear, taking their valuable stories with it.
The International Archive of Women in Architecture (IAWA), in collaboration with Mujer Arquitecta and the School of Architecture at Universidad Andrés Bello, invites you to revisit your work and select a special piece that marked a significant milestone in your professional journey. The selection should be based on the piece's impact—not its aesthetic quality—having served as a turning point in your career. Furthermore, as a student, family member, friend, or colleague, you are encouraged to invite other architects in your network or local circle to contribute a piece, or to help preserve the work of an architect who may have passed away and whose legacy is at risk of being lost. We also invite any other interested parties to join this initiative by sharing it to support this important mission.
Two-dimensional pieces must be original (no photocopies), unframed, and may include sketches, drawings, diagrams, collages, prints, engravings, photographs, outlines or synopses of written work, or foundations for academic projects, among others.
