One of Lima's major deficits is the lack of public spaces designed for children to develop their psychomotor, intellectual, and social skills during their early years. Design focused on early childhood seeks to foster a more attentive perspective toward the needs of the city's most vulnerable users: children aged 0 to 5, their caregivers, and pregnant women.
With this approach, the goal is not only to provide spaces for play but to design healthy, resilient, safe, and sustainable environments, while promoting built environments from the perspective of children. In other words, these are places that foster independence and personal development into adulthood, thereby creating a truly inclusive city.
For this reason, Ocupa Tu Calle has organized the "Public Spaces for Early Childhood" design competition. The initiative aims to develop two urban interventions in the Malambo neighborhood of the Barranco district and the Santa Cruz neighborhood of the Miraflores district, whose municipalities are part of the Pact for Public Spaces promoted by the organization.
