The safety measures implemented to contain the pandemic caused by the novel coronavirus in early 2020 included residential confinement and the suspension of all in-person activities deemed non-essential to the functioning of society. Within a few weeks, a large part of the daily lives of millions of people around the planet shifted to the Internet, and particularly to the World Wide Web. The crisis urgently imposed a frequently intuitive revision of ways of communicating in professional, family, affective, and political spheres, among others. Individuals and groups historically resistant to and critical of digital culture found themselves forced into a hurried and improvised immersion in its media, while at the same time, the social divide between those with and without access to the network deepened.
