The 4th edition of the Peña Ganchegui Prize for Young Basque Architecture is now open, featuring a cash prize of €6,000.
Held biennially, the prize was established in 2017 by the Basque Government's Department of Environment, Territorial Planning and Housing and the Peña Ganchegui Archive, in memory of the leading figure of Basque architecture in the second half of the 20th century. As the founder of the San Sebastián School of Architecture, he authored iconic works such as the Vista Alegre Tower (Zarautz, 1959), the Plaza de la Trinidad (Donostia, 1963), the Casa Imanolena (Mutriku, 1964), and the Plaza del Tenis (Donostia, 1976), which serves as a prelude to Eduardo Chillida’s Peine del Viento (Comb of the Wind).
