ELEMENTAL Lecture at the 21st Chile Architecture Biennial

Architect Juan Ignacio Cerda, a partner at ELEMENTAL, will present the housing projects of ELEMENTAL, an architecture firm led by Alejandro Aravena and also comprising Gonzalo Arteaga, Juan Cerda, Víctor Oddó, and Diego Torres.

ELEMENTAL focuses its work on improving social conditions through infrastructure, public space, and housing for the most marginalized. The firm is known for prioritizing participatory work with communities, which also takes into account their capacity for self-construction to complete the progressive housing they propose. Their leader, Alejandro Aravena, received the Pritzker Prize in 2016, an honor joined by the 2017 Gothenburg Award for Sustainable Development and the 2014 Zumtobel Group Award in the "Urban Developments and Initiatives" category for the "PRES Constitución" project.
