The IABsp will host two debates as part of the programming for the curatorial competition for the 12th International Architecture Biennial of São Paulo. These debates aim to raise concerns and pose provocations that may be reflected in the proposals. The second, "Criticism and Curatorship," will take place on June 30.
Architectural criticism and curatorship are means of interpreting and disseminating the discipline. From distinct positions, they allow for an understanding of architecture and its value as a cultural expression. However, these instruments are not neutral: while curatorship can bring society closer to architectural production, it does so through a narrative constructed with a specific objective and vision. At the same time, architectural criticism interprets production based on issues also shaped by individual research trajectories.
