Lecture: 'Architecture as a Medium' by Alfredo Thiermann

'Architecture as a Medium' will present the work carried out by architect Alfredo Thiermann over the last few years. Through the analysis of historical references and built projects, the lecture will delve into the relationship and intersection between architectural projects and other media, highlighting the importance of material culture in a world where everything seems to lean toward the virtual.

Alfredo Thiermann is an architect and a doctoral candidate at ETH Zurich. His work has been published and exhibited in Thresholds Journal of Architecture, ARQ, Potlatch, and Real Review, as well as at the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, and the Istanbul Design Biennial, among other media outlets and institutions. Alfredo lives, works, and cares for his children, Pedro and Juan, between Berlin, Zurich, and Santiago, where he develops his practice and a research project provisionally titled “Radio-Activities: The Architecture of Broadcasting in Cold War Berlin.”
