Taking place in Marvão, in the Portuguese Upper Alentejo from July 16 to 29, this international workshop on architectural drawing and design will examine traditional construction, architecture, and urbanism to produce a manual for conservation and new traditional construction in the area. During the final days, participants will design improvement proposals for various public spaces in the town, utilizing the previously developed manual. Participants will have the opportunity to exchange knowledge and ideas and collaborate with students and faculty from diverse nationalities. Practical work will be complemented by lectures from experts in traditional vernacular architecture and construction, as well as regional trips and visits to workshops and construction sites.
Participation in the workshop costs €320, which covers tuition, accommodation, meals, and transportation from Madrid or Lisbon. A selection process will be conducted, as spots are limited; several places will be reserved for students from each of the universities collaborating with the summer school.
