
Gabriele Basilico: Urban Landscapes”
Exhibition promoted by the Italian Cultural Institute of Rio de Janeiro brings together records by the Milanese photographer taken between 1978 and 2012
The Italian Cultural Institute of Rio de Janeiro has just inaugurated the exhibition “Gabriele Basilico: Urban Landscapes,” which will be on view for free until September 13 of this year at the “Polo Cultural ItalianoRio – arte, design e inovação.” The selection of works by Gabriele Basilico, born in Milan in 1944, includes 77 photographs taken between 1978 and 2012, covering nearly his entire artistic trajectory, with curation by Giovanna Calvenzi and Filippo Maggia. Gabriele Basilico was one of the most internationally renowned Italian photographers; his works are present in the collections of prestigious public and private institutions worldwide, and to date, more than 130 books and catalogs have been published about his work.
