IC Cuba is an action-research project focused on the emerging heritage of Havana and its surrounding areas.
Collective intelligence, which emerges from the collaboration and joint efforts of many individuals, is a universally available form of knowledge. Collective intelligences contribute significantly to the transfer of knowledge and power from the individual to the group; they are constantly refined, coordinated in real-time, and stimulate the effective transfer of skills. They form the foundation for more sustainable and resilient societies and are key to achieving the goals of the Sustainable Development Goals.
With a shared research agenda on "sustainable architecture," the network will collect, evaluate, and digitally provide access to Cuba's traditional construction techniques and trades—those most climate-positive, non-standardized, and often displaced by external models—to address sustainability goals in architectural education.
