Tezontle, formed by Lucas Cantú and Carlos H. Matos, presents an intervention at LIGA that highlights their recent work: Sinseñalismo (No-Signalism). This project investigates the concepts of digital disconnection and deceleration, aiming to uncover the relationships between these ideas within architecture and art. Through this experience, they promote and demonstrate a reconnection with the elemental essence of humanity.
Refugio justo (Just Refuge) is a cabin-machine for an intermittent hermit; that is, a space where one can lead a "no-signalist" life—a life disconnected from the digital and, therefore, decelerated.
This dwelling seeks to illustrate the life of a hermit through a series of objects, artifacts, and sculptures that represent and symbolize the user's routine. Through interaction, these elements refer us back to more basic forms of life—a way to link or connect with nature and the essential, while questioning contemporary lifestyles, patterns, habits, and customs that we take for granted.
