The seminar initiative was originally conceived in 2007 to offer participants in the master's and doctoral urbanism programs at the UPC the opportunity to discuss and enrich their work.
Gradually, the International Seminar on Urbanism Research (SIIU) has increasingly opened its doors to researchers from around the world. Since the fifth edition in 2013, the seminar has been held annually in mid-June, co-hosted by the Barcelona campus (Polytechnic University of Catalonia) and a Latin American partner. This year, the eleventh edition of the SIIU is taking place between Barcelona and Santiago, Chile (Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, University of Chile, and the University of Concepción).
