Editorial Bifurcaciones and Campus Creativo UNAB invite you to the book launch of "El Viaje Colectivo: La Cultura del Tranvía y del Ómnibus en América del Sur," by authors Guillermo Giucci and Tomás Errázuriz.
This work analyzes the arrival of trams and buses in South American cities at the beginning of the last century and the establishment of a new way of traveling. Far from being a mere mode of transport, El Viaje Colectivo—both a century ago and today—is a fundamental space for sociability; a place where differences in gender, class, and age are constructed and made visible; a balcony for observing the social and urban landscape; a constant subject of political promises and demands; and a privileged space for reflection, reading, and imagination. In short, it is the foundation upon which our metropolitan culture is built.
