Revestimientos del Limarí is an exhibition showcasing a research project by architects Patricia Marchante and Amada Rivera Vidal, which investigates traditional methods for protecting walls in earthen heritage buildings in the Limarí province.
In Chile, as elsewhere in the world, earthen techniques have existed since ancient times and remain relevant today. In this sense, these construction methods reflect a body of knowledge that has matured over time, consistently adapting to the specific characteristics of a territory—namely its traditions, social and economic organization, climate, topography, and local resources.
Furthermore, earthen construction processes align with the principles of sustainable development: earth is a material with a low ecological footprint during its production, is fully reusable, and generates no waste.
