COLORS OF FAITH
The Círio de Nazaré is the subject of an exhibition featuring artistic interventions by Rose Maiorana on photographs by Tarso Sarraf, now open to the public in Belém, Pará.
Faith, devotion, and everything surrounding the Círio de Nazaré pilgrimage: the meeting of photographer Tarso Sarraf’s sensitive gaze with the colorful hues of visual artist Rose Maiorana pays tribute to one of the most iconic events in Belém, Pará. The "Colors of Faith" exhibition is on view through November 4 at the CCBEU Art Gallery in the Batista Campos neighborhood of Belém.
The people moving through the Círio de Nazaré procession, the colorful ribbons characteristic of the season, and other moments captured in their work convey the power of the Círio de Nossa Senhora de Nazaré. Striking scenes from the Nazarene season—such as the Trasladação, the motorcade, and the arrival of pilgrims from various municipalities across Pará—are all on display for visitors to explore through the work of these two Amazonian artists. In addition to these pieces, the exhibition features images of Our Lady of Nazareth customized by Rose Maiorana.
