Exhibition "Red Earth"

Environmental degradation and reforestation are the themes of the solo exhibition by Rio-based artist Raul Leal, which draws from his observations of the Fluminense landscape.

The environmental destruction in the North and Northwest Fluminense regions—visible to the naked eye and accelerating in recent years—served as the starting point for the solo exhibition "Terra Vermelha" (Red Earth). Curated by Lucas Albuquerque, the show opens at the Paço Imperial on August 3. The exhibition features works documented by Leal over the past few years, during which he worked in the region to bridge sustainability and the visual arts. Through his work, he addresses ecological issues in the Fluminense interior and uses art to provoke reflection on the damage inflicted upon the ecosystem as a whole.
