On December 11, the book "Samuel Kruchin: Arquitetura" will be launched at Casa Tegra in São Paulo. Published by J.J.Carol, the work presents images, plans, drawings, and texts of fifteen completed projects and several recent studies developed by architect Samuel Kruchin, principal of Kruchin Arquitetura.
Featuring projects dating back to 1986—such as the first phase of the Capobianco Residence—up to the present day, the book highlights the trajectory of the architect’s work, which encompasses a diverse range of programs and scales, from shopping centers to mixed-use architectural complexes.
"I was once asked about my first project and remembered a small story: in my teenage bedroom, there was a wall where I hung a series of strange, odd things that interested me, but I couldn't make all of that, so disconnected, turn into something even remotely harmonious. It was a fight against the wall. When, after many days and nights, a final old tile found on the street finally found its place and all of it—the small wall and its strange objects—was transfigured as if by enchantment, by magic, and everything around it vibrated, it was an immense shock. I understood what a project was," says Kruchin.
While the book allows for a technical reading through plans, sections, and drawings, it also stands out for its use of project imagery as a broad narrative where the defining concepts and resulting solutions emerge throughout.
