"Migrantes" opens on November 7 at 7:00 PM at the Instituto Cervantes.
Prominent Peruvian graphic artist Issa Watanabe concludes the 2024 exhibition schedule at the institute's Rio de Janeiro headquarters in Botafogo.
Occupying a prominent place among contemporary Latin American graphic artists, illustrator Issa Watanabe will present approximately 30 works in her solo exhibition "Migrantes," beginning November 7 at the Instituto Cervantes in Botafogo. The opening will be attended by the Consul of Peru and the director of the Instituto Cervantes in Rio de Janeiro, José Vicente Ballester Monferrer.
Previously exhibited in Cádiz for the IX International Congress of the Spanish Language, as well as at the Instituto Cervantes branches in Rome, Salvador, and Brasília, the exhibition brings together a selection from the *Migrantes* and *Kintsugi* series. These compositions, produced between 2019 and 2023 using colored pencil on a digital background, are curated by Alonso Ruiz Rosas. The collection allows viewers to appreciate the consistency of an approach that, in its own way, manages to convey the feat of an epic breath alongside the lyricism of reconstructed intimacy. "Migrantes" is open to all ages and will be on view free of charge until early January 2025.
