Six actresses wait to be part of a staging. Lost in the city, they recreate imperceptible situations: “Sonido Sonorense” is the sound of a knife sharpener’s flute, the water vendor, or the garbage truck; “Solecito de Tepito” presents the sweltering midday heat at the food stalls in Tepito; “La Ventosa” reminds us of the turbulent wind that blows between the Torre de Reforma and Insurgentes; “La Inundación” is that storm drain that clogs the city, creating an improvised lake; and “la Flor de Esquites” is an odor machine that brings back those aromas so characteristic of the markets.
Once in the gallery space, and taking the form of a character/sculpture, they wonder what their role will be in this work. Pedraglio takes "Six Characters in Search of an Author" (1925) by Italian playwright Luigi Pirandello as the basis for a script, eliminating all those phrases that do not directly allude to the central theme of the work: six characters waiting for their staging. The actresses thus burst into the LIGA space, insisting on being allowed to tell their own story: whether it is that of the characters they represent in the city, or that of the actresses they are now called upon to be.
