The inauguration of YAP_Constructo 8 will take place next Thursday, April 11, at Parque Araucano (Santiago). The program is developed in Chile by CONSTRUCTO in partnership with MoMA and is directed by architects Jeannette Plaut and Marcelo Sarovic.
This edition of YAP Constructo is designed by architect Domingo Arancibia, whose project, titled "La luz del cochayuyo," honors the seaweed "found almost exclusively on the coasts" of Chile. His intention is to "create a place bathed in the light of the seaweed, like a glimmer of oceanic forests in the historic valley, showcasing this unknown condition," Arancibia explains in his project statement.
The Chilean edition of the competition is one of four international programs organized by MoMA, alongside those in Rome (MAXXI), Istanbul (Istanbul Modern), and Seoul (MMCA).
