Primary School Competition in Senegal: Sambou Toura Drame

The new Archstorming competition takes us to Senegal, Africa. In some regions of the country, only 50% of school-age children have access to education, and classrooms are often overcrowded with up to 80 students due to a lack of infrastructure.

We are collaborating with Let’s Build My School (LBMS), a UK-registered charity (#1168814) founded in 2016 to build schools in developing countries, with a particular focus on remote areas lacking educational facilities.

Beyond constructing buildings using sustainable, locally sourced recycled materials, LBMS researches and implements construction techniques that require no prior technical knowledge. This allows the local community to replicate the process and further develop their village after LBMS has departed. LBMS places great importance on achieving measurable and lasting results—ensuring buildings are used for their intended purpose, increasing student enrollment, and empowering the community by creating employment through the new construction skills acquired.
