The Félix Candela Award is an international, two-phase architecture ideas competition conducted in Spanish. It is organized annually by the Spanish Institute of Architecture (IESARQ) and is open to students of architecture, landscape architecture, urbanism, and design, as well as young architects, landscape architects, urbanists, and designers, participating either individually or in teams of two to three members.
The fifth edition of the Félix Candela Award celebrates the first five years of an initiative defined as a driving force for the development of architects committed to transforming their immediate world. Through collective effort, we enact changes—rooted in architecture and critical thought—that will have a lasting impact on our environment and, consequently, our lives. More than any other, this fifth edition of the Félix Candela Award seeks to celebrate the need to transform education into an environment that nourishes the mind and spirit to create a better world.
Is it possible to conceive of a form of society that is not urban? Furthermore, is it possible to imagine this society as autonomous and radically different from the city, with its own economic structure, social order, forms, and appearance? Is it possible to envision the countryside as the setting for this society?
