The objective is to convert a traditional residential building into a co-living space.
Traditionally, multifunctional buildings that integrate living, exercise, work, social interaction, and retail are new constructions—often serving as theoretical exercises in speculation.
Due to recent global health mandates, these activities have been forced into buildings ill-equipped for such purposes, such as apartments in the centers of major cities like Madrid, Athens, Rome, and Paris. This competition asks participants to transform one such residential building—located in a central neighborhood of Madrid—into a multifunctional home. The proposal should leverage underutilized existing spaces, such as rooftops and courtyards, while creating new ones atop the structure. A new volume incorporating all these functions must be added.
