Abouthaus is an online platform dedicated to helping self-builders and owner-builders navigate the design and construction process, make informed decisions, and secure high-quality home designs. One of its primary services is adapting the traditional architectural competition model to the residential sector.
The challenge is to design a home that meets the needs of a four-person family seeking a life in a natural setting—close to, yet removed from, the city—without sacrificing modern comforts. The goal is to consider not only the formal resolution of the project but also its ease of construction, potential for future expansion, and high energy efficiency. The site is located on a steep slope with a prime view of Catalonia’s most iconic and distinctive mountain: Montserrat.
