The Pirate Tower in Ibiza is one of the most famous defensive structures on the island, attracting hundreds of tourists each year. It is the tallest tower in Ibiza, though its primary appeal lies in the unique view from the top, which encompasses the islets of Es Vedrà and Es Vedranell, and even the Montgó massif in Denia on clear days.
As a defensive structure, the site features a variety of topographies, ranging from cliffs and gently sloping areas to sections in direct contact with the sea at its lowest point, specifically the lower cove. Consequently, the site for the intervention is completely open; participants must choose how to anchor their architecture and maximize the site's potential through their chosen strategy.
Given that this is one of the most inspiring locations on the island, it has been selected as an ideal spot for a dwelling conceived as a space for relaxation and inner peace, where culture, passion, and art can flourish through the proposed architecture. It serves as a creative hub for visual, musical, or physical expression for an artist (architect, musician, poet, painter, etc.). The proposal may be conceived as an occasional refuge or a permanent residence. Participants will determine the occupant's profession, the exact location of the dwelling, and the program, ensuring the inclusion of at least the following spaces: 1 bedroom-studio-living-dining room, 1 observation platform, and 1 bathroom. These spaces may be compartmentalized or integrated.
