Thomas Weaver is an architecture writer and editor. Having served as editor of AA Files for 10 years, he is currently a visiting professor at the Berlage Center for Advanced Studies in Architecture and Urban Design at TU Delft. In this ARQDocs volume, he presents the essays "Grimm the Modelmaker" and "Against Research."
In the first, Weaver delves into the intimacy of architect Oswald Mathias Ungers’s house-museum to uncover the work of industrial designer and modelmaker Bernd Grimm. In the second, the author traces the use of the word "research" in architecture, revealing how its overuse has distorted the implications and practices behind the concept.
