This Atlas aims to document and illustrate, through a graphic record, the characteristics of the landscape agents that compose the ecosystems of the Concepción region, their conservation status, and the fragmentation effects caused by various territorial transformation dynamics.
The maps and data sheets are based on the results of the URBANCOST project and ongoing research by researcher Carolina Rojas and the team at the Center for Sustainable Urban Development (CEDEUS), as well as various studies conducted by the Environmental Sciences Center (EULA). In this way, the Atlas seeks to disseminate academic and scientific knowledge in a simple, graphic manner, highlighting the value of natural heritage (rivers, wetlands, lagoons) and urban heritage (parks) as the identity of Concepción's historical urban-natural landscape, while raising awareness about the vulnerability of these water bodies.
