BFA Project Launch

BFA are looking back to look forward.

‘Sankofa’ is a principle derived from the Akan people of Ghana; an understanding that one should remember the past to make positive progress in the future. Join us for an evening celebrating BFA’s journey so far and hearing more about where we are headed next.

To kickstart the evening, we will be screening our contribution to the 2023 Venice Architecture Biennale - a short film titled ‘A Voice for the 450 Plus’.

The screening will be followed by the launch of BFA’s first research-led project. The project is titled ‘ma’ - a term of endearment and respect used to refer to matriarchs in the African context. The research title also plays on the academic abbreviation for a ‘Master of Arts’. This research project looks ‘back home’, exploring matriarchal, spatial practices on the African continent as a catalyst to establishing our own creative practice both in the UK and on the continent.

To help deliver the project, we will also be launching a crowd-funder on the night and profits from ticket sales will also help fund the project. There are tickets at different rates, please purchase the amount that you can afford to donate, the sky is the limit

We can’t wait to share an incredible evening together celebrating the next stage for BFA. Alongside the screening and project launch, there’ll be drinks, light bites, inspiring people and conversations!
