World Habitat Day 2023

When: 2 October 2023
Where: City of Baky, the Republic of Azerbaijan

World Habitat Day is a global event that ushers the Urban October campaign to advocate for sustainable urban development. It is observed annually on the first Monday of October. This day is a vital platform for spotlighting the pivotal role that cities play in shaping our world.

This year’s global observance of World Habitat Day will be held in the city of Baku in Azerbaijan. This is the first time the global celebration is taking place in the Central Asian region under the theme, "Resilient urban economies. Cities as drivers of growth and recovery." It will focus on how cities can strategically position their economies to not only benefit their residents but also act as powerful catalysts for growth and recovery.

You can participate online or in person. To register, go here: www.urbanoctober.unhabitat.org/form/whd-registration-form-2023

Since its inception in 1986 in Nairobi, Kenya, with the theme "Shelter is my Right," World Habitat Day has evolved into an international platform. Each year, the observance takes place in a different country, bringing together global thought leaders, policymakers and keynote speakers.
