New Green Wall / Jose Maria Chofre

Although we’ve featured dozens of projects that incorporate vertical or roof gardens, we just couldn’t stop looking at this beautiful six story tall green wall by architect that we spotted at Urbanarbolismo.  The articulated design, teamed with the variety of foliage, adds a great texture and personality to the building, a new children’s library in eastern .

Diagonal 80 / AMID (Cero9)

The Industrial Building for Diagonal 80 in San Agustín de Guadalix, by AMID (Cero9) Architects (Cristina Díaz Moreno + Efren Garcia Grinda) has been awarded with two first prizes: the Prize “Opera Prima 2010″ to the best built building granted by the College of Architects and “Premio Construye” award for the best industrial building granted by NAPISA.

AMID (Cero9) also has been selected among a big amount of Spanish practices one of the 20 best young architects in by 2G Editorial Gustavo Gili for the same building for Diagonal80 in Madrid.

Prefabricated Nature / MYCC

This house was already featured before, but now we present some more detailed material shared by the architects. Designed by MYCC, built in three months and assembled in three days, this vacation house located in the Galician municipality of Cedeira is a good example of the many possibilities that modular construction, up to now associated with catalogue houses, offers today.

Towards Another Architecture: 24 Sustainable Projects exhibition last days

‘Towards Another Architecture: 24 Sustainable Projects’ is an ambitious exhibition showcasing projects by some of Europe’s leading sustainability architects. Now in its final fortnight, this is the last opportunity to see the exhibition being held at the Fundación Canal in , .

The exhibition offers a detailed analysis of 24 architectural projects – two from each of the 12 participants – to inform and explain what sustainable architecture is, the problems that need to be overcome and the solutions that can be provided.

The exhibition includes projects by Architype, Foster + Partners, Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, Ken Yeang, Kirkland Fraser Moor, Emilio Ambasz, Rafael de la Hoz, Mario Cucinella, Antonio Lamela, Iñigo Ortiz and Enrique Leon, and MVRDV. The exhibition will be on display until July 25 and the entry is free.

The distinctive feature of the property lies in its north-facing slope, which has to be negotiated over two storeys to reach the almost flat garden level. This gives rise to the leitmotiv of a “house winding up the slope”, with a quarry-stone façade which is corresponding to the ultrathin Frames of the façade (read more…)

Pitch House / Iñaqui Carnicero
The house is located in a small neighbourhood on the west boundaries of Madrid in a place called “los Peñascales”, that mean something as well as great stones. The plot is characterized to have a great slope oriented to the south and have two great granite rocks partially covered by moss.
