Seoul Metropolitan City is holding ‘Young Architects’ Competition 2016: Parking Lot Cultural Space Creation’ to provide design participation chance for domestic and international young architects to promote architecture service industry and discover and nurture outstanding designers. In order to extend participation of rising architects, only architects under the age of 45 (who was born after Jan 1, 1971) can enter this design competition.
This Was Tomorrow: Reinventing Architecture 1953–1978, Swiss Architecture Museum
This Was Tomorrow is an exhibition about architectural imagination and the power, processes and poetics of creation and invention. It presents a series of twelve episodes—beginning in the 1950s—that look at the ferment of new ideas as architects began to re-conceive space in response to the conditions of a newly affluent society and the emergence of the electronic age.
Each of these investigations—from Le Corbusier’s late new harmony of form, to Aldo Rossi’s evocations of the force of history—looks into the basic elements, open futures and varied possibilities of architectural thinking, proposing fundamental new ideas and examining the potential of the built environment to reform the relations of humans to each other and to their environments.

The British Twentieth Century Society (C20) have announced a forthcoming conference in London on Postmodernism. Speakers including Sir Terry Farrell, Piers Gough and Charles Holland (Ordinary Architecture) will join Alan Powers, Emily Gee and Elain Harwood of Historic England to "raise the profile of Britain’s best Postmodernist buildings following concerns over proposed changes to leading examples of this much maligned style."

The aim of this International Competition is to design a new Circus School in Moscow to serve as an academy for aspiring circus performers. The architecture of this new building should reflect contemporary design tendencies. Applications are open for the Art Residency Grants in Oficinas do Convento - Cultural Association for Art and Communication (OC) in Montemor-o-Novo, Portugal. We have launched three vacancies for Art Residencies to take place between September and December 2016.
This Contest for Grants by OC intends to implement a self-funded programme through the application fees. The application have a 20 euros fee and this amount will be used to create the three Residencies.

Port Authority Bus Terminal International Design + Deliverability Competition
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has launched an “International Design + Deliverability Competition” for the construction of a 21st century successor to the United States’ largest and busiest bus terminal. The agency seeks inspired and qualified teams from across the world, in our quest for a winning conceptual design for this complex undertaking.
The Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies is proud to announce the 2016 edition of The Geneva Challenge - Advancing Development Goals international Contest for graduate students. This is a project funded by Swiss Ambassador Jenö Staehelin and is supported by Kofi Annan, the high-patron of the contest.
This year, Master students are invited to develop analysis-based proposals on "The Challenges of Urbanisation".
The competition invites teams of 3-5 master students to:
1. identify a challenge stemming from urbanization;
2. construct an interdisciplinary analysis on how it affects different aspects of development in a specific (but transposable) context;
From 4/1/2016 through 5/31/2016, up-and-coming Landscape Architects can compete for the opportunity to visit New Orleans and attend the 2016 ASLA (American Society of Landscape Architects) Meeting & Expo. Twenty-one winners will each be awarded $2,000 to help cover attendance, as well as receive national recognition.
The Department of Spatial and Sustainable Design, Vienna University of Technology, and the Society of Architecture and Spatial Design is organizing the BLUE AWARD, an international student competition for sustainable architecture. The prize is overseen by the UIA, International Union of Architects, represented by its former President Albert Dubler.
The competition is open to university students of Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree programs as well as for students working on a diploma thesis or dissertation in the academic fields of architecture, urbanism or regional planning and civil engineering. The Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (YBCA) in partnership with the City of San Francisco Planning Department is requesting creative proposals for submission in the 2016 Market Street Prototyping Festival. Port Royal and the Eastern Town sit within the Devon seaside town of Sidmouth with a population of 12,569. The competition site encompasses an area that has been much contested locally, with several local community groups having been involved with, or producing schemes for, alternative visions for this part of the town. It also includes a variety of stakeholders, and land in multiple ownership, including but not limited to Devon County Council, East Devon District Council, South West Water, and individual local landowners.
In a world of climate change, refugees, and displaced peoples in crisis, Pamphlet Architecture asks for visions on the concept of BUOYANCY AND LIFT (FLOATING CITIES). Proposed solutions will provide housing, clinics, and other community services to 1,500 - 2,000 inhabitants with incremental additions while incorporating innovative technologies.
In the documentary Jens Jensen The Living Green, filmmaker Carey Lundin explores the innovative ideas of Jens Jensen to make the modern city livable for all. The prestigious IIA National Awards for Excellence in Architecture 2015 will be held in Calicut from April 7-9, 2016, along with CROSSROADS 2016, hosted by the IIA Calicut Centre, powered by Trojan Plywood. The 3 day event to be held at Kadavu Resort, Calicut will see the attendance of over 1,000 delegates comprising Architects & Urban Planners from across the country.
