Herman’s Square / Arhimetrics + Enota

By — Filed under: Mixed Use ,Office Buildings ,Residential , , , ,

Herman’s Square, the new business residential building by Arhimetrics + Enota, is located at an important location in the old city centre in Celje. The land intended for construction is a part of a larger degraded non-built up area, which was somewhat forgotten for decades and exempt from the development of the city. Through the years a very heterogeneous structure evolved around this “wound” in the urban tissue, which was untouched for a long time.  It is now surrounded by a range of modern construction in an area that has extensive open space intended for a future park along the Savinja River.

IPOST Headquarters Building / studiobv36

By — Filed under: Office Buildings , , ,

The IPOST Headquarters Building by Daniele Durante_studiobv36 begins with a strong relation with the urbanization of the area, and its adjacency to a highly density block including Telecom building in Rome, .  These relations have pushed the project idea towards a dialogue with the urban scale, making the building like a “perspective block”, with a strong plastic impact.

195 Melbourne Street / Tridente Architects

Uploaded by — Filed under: Office Buildings ,Selected , , , ,

© David Sievers

This simple and understated project, designed by Tridente Architects, sits comfortably within this transitional streetscape and provides a glimpse of what is possible in the changing Australian cities. , as for most inner precincts of Australian cities, continues to transform from established older residential building stock to larger and more contemporary commercial buildings. In the case of Street the predominant character of single storey buildings has long been under pressure due to the limited commercial accommodation available in close proximity to the adjacent Central Business Precinct. As a direct result the established patterns of narrow sites with stand alone residential buildings providing a mix of both residential and commercial activity is now less desirable; especially given an increasing awareness that consolidation within such existing frameworks offers a more appropriate approach to sustainability and environments more suited to present day usage.
