The proposal for the Vrbani Business Center by NFO in Zagreb, aims to solve its inner urbanism within itself and set the guidelines for the development of the surrounding area. They do so through a cube form set on the site while passages carve within the closed volume to emphasize directions from the environment and, at the same time, pull users closer to the internal context of the new structure. AME (Accouveur Multiplicateur d’Entreprises) / Wesh

By — Filed under: Office Buildings ,Sustainability , , ,

The main idea behind AME, the first concept by Wesh for a business incubator, is to re-create a small world where different companies can develop themselves and get bigger, with all services provided. The design questions the future of small companies in the periphery of the city for the next 20 years. How can a building enable many companies, each having their own singularity and size, to get along together and evolve? AME is all about wrapping plenty of entities into a bioclimatic greenhouse. For a monthly subscription, each company has its own space, which can be extended or reduced thanks to the company development. More images and architects’ description after the break. read more »

Courtesy of Office Building with Shopping Mall

The south of is a chaotic neighborhood with different architecture styles, varying building heights and a big amount of green areas that spread between them without any clearly defined shape and order. At some point, it stopped being a dormitory and more people started to settle there for good. Therefore, a necessity for a new city center with office spaces and retail areas appeared. The proposed form of the design by MJZ | Maciej Jakub Zawadzki organizes all these factors to bring some order into this chaos. More images and architects’ description after the break. read more »

Sustainable Office Buildings

By — Filed under: Office Buildings ,Sustainability

In more recent times, the importance of the changing climate and its effects on the environment are being given more attention in regard to design practices. As a result, sustainable work spaces are becoming more prominent and some may even argue that a more energy efficient building correlates to a more efficient and productive work environment. With a growing demand for energy efficient buildings comes a greater responsibility of architects today and in the future.  In turn, officer owners and managers are also placed under increasing obligations to be focused on cutting down on productivity costs and to find more sustainable ways of going about their business endeavors. Companies are coming to the realization that investing in ‘green’ principles is more profitable in the long run.

In this post we are going to present to you office buildings that offer sustainable techniques through innovative architecture. read more »

Zac Seguin Office Building / ECDM Architectes

By — Filed under: Mixed Use ,Office Buildings , , ,

The proposals by ECDM Architectes  for the Zac Seguin consisted of both a high rise and a non high rise building which were both designed as individual elements in an urban mixed composite, where residential, commercial and green spaces combine to form a whole. In their projects, there is a firm horizontal component which proposes a frame, defining the boundaries of the park, the Seine and its emergences, punctuations designed in resonance with other high points on the bend in the river, such as the Horizons tower or the buildings to come on the Seguin Island. Rothschild Bank Headquarters / OMA

Forecourt and St Stephen Walbrook at night © by Philippe Ruault

OMA recently completed their first building in London. The new 21,000sqm building is located in the narrow medieval alley of St Swithin’s Lane, in the heart of the City, a dense context where OMA’s precise intervention is able to blend and become an active urban piece.

The building, thanks to its structural steel design, is lifted from the ground exposing new situations, connections and views, detonator of a new  streetscape where the public realm is as important as the office space above.

You can see Rem Koolhaas and Ellen van Loon discussing this project on a video posted earlier at ArchDaily.
