Modular Skylights in the Plus in Magnor | VELUX Commercial

Modular Skylights from VELUX Commercial were used in a sustainable furniture factory. The Plus factory, situated in Norway received BREEAM's highest environmental classification. The factory is designed as a large plus sign seen from above, hence the name "The Plus." It is built according to passive house standards with a supporting structure of mass timber. The materials used include low-carbon concrete and recycled steel reinforcements. It is not only a manufacturing site but an Experience Centre open to visitors and creates interest in industry, technology, and sustainable production.

Lighting Design

36 VELUX Modular Skylights were specially designed for the project, as they had to be extra large. The result offers an elegant solution for lighting and ventilation. The modules are connected, so that in the summer they remain open for additional comfort to provide a healthy indoor climate, but are designed to close automatically if the fire alarm is triggered.
